“What we have, we will share.” This is what drives the operation of OSHaRE. Owen Sound Hunger and Relief Effort (OSHaRE) is a community meal program located in downtown Owen Sound. We have been serving our community and surrounding area since 2013. We serve lunch 6 days a week and dinner 5 days week. In 2021, we served over 108, 000 meals to the community. In 2022, we have already seen an increase of over 30% per month in the number of meals needed.
OSHaRE is funded by donations, grants, and fundraising. Our main fundraiser is The Walk for OSHaRE. This year, we are offering both a virtual walk and an in person walk.
The virtual walk provides an opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, or groups to walk when they want, and where they want during the week of September 17-24, 2022.
The in-person walk provides an opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, and groups to come together and walk 5km through Owen Sound (2 different routes) and then back to OSHaRE. The in-person walk will be on September 23rd starting at 4pm (registration at 3:30pm) meet in the area behind city hall.
You can sign up for either the virtual walk or the in-person walk at OSHaRE (946 3rd Ave. E. Owen Sound) or online at www.oshare.ca
With the increased need in our community and the rising costs of food and resources we need your help, please consider walking with us.
